News items are used to display texts in public and internal dashboard pages. News items can also be integrated in courses via the course homepage.

News Assignment

News items are assigned by selecting any news items and clicking "News assignment". The selected news are allocated to the panels in which they should appear or to courses on the home pages of which they should be visible. It is possible to select whether the news should only be visible when the system or course is called up in a certain language. Therefore it is irrelevant which language was selected for the news text. Thus, in extreme cases, it is possible to display English-language news for example, on French panels or in Spanish courses. The choice of language in the news text simply helps with the administrative selection of news. If the news should no longer be displayed, it can be removed from the allocation list.

News Visibility to Users

To make news items visible to users, clearances are required. Depending on the dashboard-category settings, groups or clients require clearances on external dashboard pages if they were deposited in the dashboard category. Further restrictions on visibility result from the selection of a "Display from/Display until" attribute and from the selection of a platform language in which users need to be logged on in order to be able to view the news item. The language does not need to be identical with that of the news item.
