Learning path templates serve to make the creation of learning paths simple and precise by allowing as many generic settings, information, and content as possible to occur at the template level and be pre-defined for learning paths derived from the given template. This helps improve consistency and efficiency where multiple learning paths are derived from the same learning path template; as a result, the learning path settings are unified and creation simplified.
When creating a learning path template, a learning path type is first selected as a basis for the template. Settings defined at the learning path-type level will be pre-defined for the template. It's also possible to not specify most settings at the learning path type and template levels and require completion at the learning path level instead, but normally minimal settings or meta tag values would be required for the population at the learning path level.
In principle, learning path templates come with the same tabs as learning paths with only the 'Meta tags and attributes' tab being different. All meta tag settings can be found in the learning path templates and can be specially defined here in terms of display. The availability of the available tabs in learning path templates and learning path types is enabled at the learning path type level.
Learning path templates can be made directly accessible to learners via the catalogue. In this case, learning paths are selected via the learning path template. This selection is useful if the learning path descriptions vary only slightly (e.g. in dates and locations) from those of the learning path template.
In contrast to course templates, it is not possible to pre-book participants for learning path templates

Which learning path information is managed is determined by the learning path type. These settings can also be configured at the learning path itself. There are some differences between learning path templates and learning paths, described below.
The following tabs are possible; depending on the configuration of the process complexity of the underlying learning path type, not all of them are shown.
Info
The Info tab displays read-only fields inherited from the learning path type, with information on:

Meta Tags and Attributes
A set of standard meta tags and attributes is available, and additional meta tags can be added. General settings for how meta tags and attributes are later used, for both the learning path type and the learning path, are configured here. Each meta tag has several setting options, editable for learning path template, editable for learning path, visible before enrolment, and visible after enrolment, that determine whether the tag is visible or editable.
Editable for Learning Path Template
Four options are available: "required," "editable," "not editable," and "do not display."

"Required" means the meta tag must be filled in at the learning path template, under the Default Values tab.

"Editable" means all meta tags are shown in the Default Values tab and values can be entered optionally.

"Not editable" means the meta tag is visible but cannot be modified.

"Do not display" means the meta tag is not shown at all. This is useful, for example, for technical meta tags that are only used to store values in the background.

Visible Before Enrolment

Languages
On the Languages tab, additional languages can be added to make the learning path available in multiple languages.
Default Values
Shows all settings according to the configuration on the Meta Tags and Attributes tab.

Administrators
On the Administrators tab, the responsible administrators can be added. For each administrator, whether they receive emails such as notifications or enrolment messages for learning paths created from this template can be configured individually. Whether the administrator is displayed as such in the frontend can also be configured.
