Experience Tracks

Experience tracks can be associated with learners in order to allow them to visualise their progress or their activities in the platform. Examples of experience tracks include knowledge in the product areas or the learning of optional courses or learning media. Depending on the scenario, one or multiple experience tracks can be used.

Learners can achieve experience points through learning activities. These can include the completion of a course, the completion of learning content, or the creation of forum content. By collecting experience points, learners will be assigned an experience level.

The experience track manager allows the management of the presentation for learners as well as the entry of the level of an experience track. The allocation to learners and how learners can achieve experience points for a learning path are also configured here.

To use this function, the "experience tracks" navigation item must be configured. The use of the experience tracks requires the use of the "imc Learning Portal".

Description

The description tab contains the attributes through which the experience track is identified. These include the name, an administrative description, and an image. For each experience track, learners are currently shown the name and image.

The ranking lists for the experience track can also be activated here. Once activated, the global ranking list on the detail page of the experience track displays a ranking list, which compares all learners who are assigned to the track. The team ranking list, on the other hand, compares the groups assigned to the experience track based on the total number of users in each.

Release and External Object ID

Experience tracks are managed by a separate server component. In contrast to other objects in the system, an external object ID will be displayed instead of a native ID. This also affects the release of experience tracks. Experience tracks are always automatically released via the master client of the user who created them. Users must be assigned to the client in order to be able to see experience tracks of another master client. This does not require changes to be made to the master client.

Leader Boards

Leader boards can be activated for each experience track. For each track either a global leader board, a team leader board or both can be configured. They will be shown to learners on the “My experience” navigation entry.

  • The global leader board lists all learners assigned to the track anonymised. The learners are ordered by the amount of experience points.

  • The team leader board lists all teams (=groups assigned to the track). The teams are ordered by the sum of experience points of their members

It can be configured per experience track, if

  • The global leader board should be shown which lists all persons which are assigned to the corresponding experience track via group assignment

  • The team leader board should be shown which lists all groups which are assigned to the corresponding experience track via group assignment

  • The absolute or average score should be taken for team ranking

  • The persons should be anonymised on then global team board

Level

The level tab allows different levels to be defined for each experience track. Each level contains a name and administrative description as well as the points required to reach each respective level. A level with 0 points is always required. This allows the assignment of a level to learners who have not yet achieved any points. The levels are ordered by points.

Groups

Experience tracks are assigned to learners via the group assignment. Experience tracks are shown to users only if they are a member of the listed group or its sub-groups. If learners are removed from a group or if the group is removed from the experience track, the learners will no longer be able to see the experience track. Because the data is retained, learners keep their successes. These reappear when they or the group are re-assigned.

Rules

Rules define the learning activities for which learners are assigned experience points for an experience track. They only affect future learning activities. Points for past learning activities are not affected by changes to the rules. Each rule type has an administrative name and an administrative description. The points that will be credited to the learners will always be indicated if the rules apply to the conditions. The conditions vary depending on the rule type and a rule is considered satisfied once one of the conditions is met.

Important: If no condition is specified, the rule always applies for the respective action of the learner and shall be considered as fulfilled!

The following rule types and conditions are available. Course completion, media completion, submission of test, submission of feedback, and forum content.
