Course Type Administration
Course types serve to facilitate the creation of course templates and courses. To this end, functions that are available for the creation of course templates and courses can be enabled or disabled for each course type. The meta tag set and other attributes for the description of course templates and courses are stipulated. This facilitates the configuration of course templates and courses, limiting it to the required settings.
On the basis of course types, course templates that can already include pre-defined course properties are created. The course templates, in turn, are the basis for the creation of courses.
Examples for the use of course types:
Using course templates of a course type and their courses as online learning scenarios without the option to book resources, but with the option to classify, with course groups being available as registration prerequisites; in this case, further prerequisite options can be disabled accordingly.
Using course templates and their courses as communities; in this case, syllabus and learning logic are disabled, the creation of news items by all learners is permitted and "Community" is selected as course mode.
Using the course template to collect external courses through learners, for the purpose of providing verification of bonus points (ECTS).
External courses: External courses serve the collection of courses conducted outside the learning platform and included in the learning history of individual learners. The settings at the course-type level allow to select course templates that can be chosen by learners from their course overviews to collect external courses. They will be displayed along with internal courses in the learning history as a result.

Process Complexity
The process-complexity tab specifies the functions of the course template and the course, and thereby determines the application scenario of the courses:
Allowing repeat editing of course-type identifiers at template level, e.g. course mode.
Allowing repeat editing of meta-tag settings at course-template level
Enabling or disabling the use of the syllabus, learning-history definition, assignment of classifications, certifications and skills, use of social media, library, Offline tests/ Feedbacks, tutors, resources, cancellation fees and price/currencies.
Using prerequisites and determining the objects that serve as prerequisites.
Adapting pre-booking properties
Cancellation Fees
Cancellation rules that determine cancellation fees can be defined. Some cancellation fees vary by the time of the cancellation, others vary by the reason for the cancellation. They can be determined in absolute values or as percentages of the registration price. Available cancellation reasons vary by organiser.
The use of the metatags "Price" or "External price" is a prerequisite for creating cancellation fees.

ClearanceHints & Tips
Course types are ideally configured to consider required meta tags, display preferences, available tabs or workflows and default settings prior to population.
If external courses are desired for use then external course type/s will need to be created. External course types are typically simplified with less meta tags available to view at the template and course level. When creating an external course type the “External course” checkbox on the “Description” tab will need to be ticked before saving for the first time.
If Sub-courses (Course in course) are desired for use then Sub-course types will need to be created.
There is no limit to the number of course types that can be created.
