Configuration Manager - Tutoring

The "Tutoring" menu is where tutor roles are configured in terms of the role names and functionality they have access to in the "Tutor centre > Course instruction" function. These roles are selectable when adding a tutor to a course.

Setting

What does the setting do?

Enable assessment access

Determines if the tutor has access to the test results of the participants.

Tutor roles

Here different tutor roles can be configured. The standard roles on each system are:

  • Tutor

  • Course manager

  • Trainer

  • Expert

  • Guest instructor

While editing or creating a new one it can be defined which Functions should be availabel for the tutor in the tutor center.

Possible functions are:

What does the setting do?

Members

This setting provides access to “Course instruction” button and “Participants” tab.

Syllabus

This setting provides access to “Course instruction” button and “Syllabus” tab.

Communication

This setting requires “Syllabus2 setting to be active. If a forum has been added, it provides access to the “Social media” tab . If the tutor is not a moderator of the forum they will only be able to view or contribute as a participant does.

Library

This setting requires “Syllabus” setting to be active. If a component has been added to the course library, then it provides access to the “Library” tab.

Preview

This setting enables “Preview” button in “Course overview” to view the course structure.

Edit content

This setting enables the “Edit components” button on the “Course overview” to allow the tutor to update the “Components”, “Social media” or “Library” tab of the course. This setting also displays “Manage content” button for easy media upload in Course tutoring. This setting also displays “Attendance tracking” button in course tutoring if “Attendance tracking2 is also active.

News

This setting enables the “Newsroom” button to create news articles for the course

Report

This setting enables the “Reports” button on Course overview.

Audit log

This setting requires “Members” to be active to enable “Edit2 button options or “Syllabus” to be active to enable “Learning progress history per component” button options in “Course instruction”.

Attendance tracking

This setting enables the “Attendance tracking” button in “Course overview”.
