Configuration Manager - Catalogue

Settings here are used to determine maximum catalogue structure depth/levels, number of days content is considered "New", displaying course from course templates based on Clearance, and real-time updating of places. As catalogues can be configured client specific there are more settings available in "Clients → Catalogue settings".

Setting

What does the setting do?

Maximum nesting depth (3 characters max.)

Maximum nesting depth of catalogue folders in the catalogue structure.

Number of days for new (3 characters max.)

Determines for how many days a component is displayed in the catalogue as “new”.

Use visibility for the type

This setting is currently used only for the Solr Index and only applies to course tiles in the catalogue.

Display of courses from templates based on clearances

Determines whether or not access to instances of a course template displayed in the catalogue should be controlled by checking the clearances on those instances.

Real-time update of the number of free places in the catalogue index

When this option is enabled, whenever there are changes in the system that impact the number of available places for a course or learning path, the Solr index is updated on the fly with the new number, therefore allowing for an accurate monitoring of the up to date number of available places. Please note: If a simultaneous booking of several users is made, there may be a delay in the saving process.

Catalogue settings on client level

Setting

What does the setting do?

Search via exact title

Only exact search entries are taken into account in the search, for example, if "course" is entered, only results that contain exactly this word are listed, "courses" would not be considered.

Search via pattern in search term

Search terms which are part of the entries are taken into account, for example, if "cour" is entered "Test Course" would be a match because it contains part of the search term.

Show indirectly assigned courses in the catalogue

Defines if the search results may contain indirectly added courses. Courses are considered added indirectly if only the corresponding course template is assigned to a catalogue, not the course instance itself.

Show indirectly assigned courses if using the free text search

Defines whether search results should contain indirectly assigned courses, although the checkbox for "Show indirect assigned courses in the catalogue" is not activated. However, this setting is only effective if the user enters one or more search terms, otherwise this setting will have no effect.

Show indirectly assigned courses for multiple registration

Displays indirectly assigned courses when performing a search during the multi-user to multi-course enrolment.

Minimum length of search terms

Delay until typeahead search

Search results

Maximum number of displayed facet entries (3 characters max.)

Show sidebar

Show search summary

Exclude courses with an unlimited number of places from the filter for vacant places

If activated, courses with unlimited number of places are no longer displayed when filtering for free places

Price type

Determines whether an "internal" or "external" price is used in the "free" search facet.

Catalogue: Take into account the clearances for the display of catalogue content

If this setting is enabled, users of external applications (e.g. Learning Portal or mobile apps) must be able to view the catalogue folder in addition to the authorisation and have viewing rights for the respective catalogue content. It should be noted that it can take up to 30 minutes for this setting to be accepted.

Catalogue: Limit catalogue to assigned locations

If this setting is active, courses with a location will only be shown to the user if they are in a group which has this location assigned. This does not affect courses without a location. Please note that it takes at least 30 minutes for this setting to take effect and might only be visible after a delay.

Catalogue: Trigger auto-completion

Defines whether the auto-completion suggestion is used directly or only when selected

Hierarchy facet: Type

Hierarchy facet: Show hierarchy facets

Defines whether the auto-completion suggestion is used directly or only when selected

Hierarchy: Show image instead of text

If this setting is activated, the text is replaced by the image if an image is available. If the checkbox is unchecked, text is displayed and also an image, if one is available.

Hierarchy: Activate the hierarchy facet for portrait phone view

Sorting

This section allows the configuration of the sorting options for the catalogue, including default sorting and enabling of the manual sorting.

Sorting: Sorting

  • categoryId asc,categoryPosition asc

    • - sort by id of the catalogue, followed by the position in the folder (default)

  • lastUpdated desc

    • - sort descending by last updated

  • title_def asc

    • - sort ascending by name (User preferred language, fallback: default language)

  • startDate desc

    • - sort descending by start date

Sorting: Enable manual sorting in the catalogue

Allows the possibility for learners to change the sort order in the catalogue. When this option is enabled, the default sort and the sort options can be defined in the below fields. When manual sort is not enabled, the default sort criteria must be specified in the Sorting field above.

Sorting: Manual sort options in the catalogue

When manual sorting is enabled, the options available to the learner for the sorting must be defined here.

Sorting: Preset sorting

When manual sorting is enabled, the default sort option must be specified here.
