The "Free Text" test question type provides an open text field in which a written answer is composed, rather than choosing from a predefined set of options. It is used where a question cannot be answered by selecting from fixed options and instead requires an evaluator to read and assess the response.
How It Is Built
The "Free Text" type is configured through the same tab structure used for test questions. However, there is no "Possible Answers" tab; the solution is given on the "Question" tab.

Scoring
"Free Text" questions have to be evaluated manually by tutors or correctors, rather than being scored automatically as most other question types are.
The solution is given on the "Question" tab, so that tutors or correctors have a reference during manual grading.
Unlike other question types, feedback on the answer is given regardless of whether it is correct or incorrect.
