Additional Module Services

Introduction

The Module Services Overview is an additional section of the Implementation Services Overview focusing on LMS implementations (rollout projects). It covers any additional services provided by the imc project department. These services can either be included in the initial implementation project or ordered and delivered at a later stage, after go-live. The main goal of this overview is to provide insight into imc's standardized service structure, along with clear expectations for customers regarding included and excluded services.

This page defines the basis of any LMS module / interface offer. The following aspects are important:

  • This page considers the current system architecture and Licence model provided by Architecture and Product Management: Overview of imc Learning Suite

  • All services are based on standard approaches and consider typical use cases. The effort estimation may increase if the customer expectation or complexity (e.g. scenarios, requirements, coaching) are higher than standard.

  • In general, all implementation projects are on a fixed-price basis. A fixed price is normally provided for a defined project or contract scope. Consequently, the fixed price is subject to change if there is a reduction or expansion of the project scope.

Module Services Overview

Here are the categories or services:

  1. LMS Standard Integration Services: All available standard integrations for user authentication, user provisioning and organisation structure import. Examples are: SSO via SAML2 and OIDC, or user provisioning via CSV file import or SCIM.

  2. LMS Core Module Services: Services related to LMS core modules that are not, or only partly covered in the rollout project (see Service Description LMS Configuration). Examples are: Learning Paths, Compliance Management, or External Training Management.

  3. LMS Extension Module Services: Services related to extension modules that require an additional license but are part of the LMS Core. Examples are Skill & Competency, On-the-Job-Training, Gamification Engine, or Certified Credit Management

  4. LMS Addon Module Services Services related to addon modules that require an additional license and the installation of extra microservices. Examples are Task Management, Microsoft Teams Connector, and Channels

  5. Virtual Classroom Services: All available standard connectors to Virtual Classroom solutions, such as Adobe Connect, GotoMeeting, GotoWebinar, Vitero, and WebEX

  6. Payment Interface Services: All available standard payment interfaces (Shopify, and Papal)

  7. Branded App Services: Services to deploy a branded app for iOS and Android

  8. Languages Services: Services related to adding new platform languages from the existing list of available platform languages

  9. Historical Data Migration: Services related to migrating (import) data into the LMS

Note: This overview summarises the services. Additional annual costs may be incurred, particularly in the SaaS area.

Open ID Connect SSO Connector

The LMS offers SSO integration via Open ID Connect that can be configured. The integration work covers the consulting, configuration, and testing effort to setup one Open ID Connect integration covering all customer environments (Production, Stage, Testing).

OAuth SSO Connector

The LMS offers SSO integration via OAuth that can be configured. The integration work covers the consulting, configuration, and testing effort to setup one OAuth integration covering all customer environments (Production, Stage, Testing).

User Data Integration Connector (CSV)

The LMS offers to automatically create, update and activate / deactivate users via CSV user interface. The CSV user provisioning needs to be configured.

  • Setup for all environments of one user import via user import scheduling including mapping and registration rules based on provided data (e.g., group assignments, value assignments, grant assignments)

  • Specification document describing the integration

The number of user attributes is limited to maximum 20. Customer must define the unique identifier

User Data Integration Connector (SCIM)

No

The LMS offers to automatically create, update and activate / deactivate users via SCIM user interface. The SCIM user provisioning needs to be configured.

  • Initial discussion and definition of scenario

  • Setup for all environments of one user import via SCIM including mapping and registration rules based on provided data (e.g., group assignments, value assignments, grant assignments)

  • Specification document describing the integration

The number of user attributes is limited to maximum 20. Customer must define the unique identifier

Organisational Structure Integration Connector

No

The LMS offers to import HR structure from an external source via a customer provided XML file. imc provides a standard template for generating the file and supports integration testing

  • Initial discussion and definition of scenario

  • Setup for all environments of one xml file based group import

  • Specification document describing the integration

imc only provides an example (template) group import file in XML and is not able to support with the file creation on customer side.

The LMS offers a huge number of standard reports. These reports export / extract data from database.

  • Coaching Session (2 hours) to test the usage scenario.

This does not contain the customisation of existing reports or the creation of new reports.

  • One additional coaching session (2 hour web session) to address questions and check the configuration.

Please note that with the extension the customer will need to update the bookings in MS Exchange manually. To automate this process, an additional service called “MS Exchange Integration” must be purchased. This will result in extra effort and additional maintenance costs.

Effectiveness Check

Yes

Setup and manage effectiveness checks for users through the creation and assignment of non-anonymous evaluation forms.

  • Creation of a new account on Azure portal along with steps to register a new application.

  • Adding permissions to the registered application.

Backend application configuration for using APIs.

  • MS Exchange is available only with the new architecture

  • MS Exchange is only available if the customer has the Resource & Capacity license

Microsoft Teams Connector

Equivalence Service

The equivalence service allows definition of relationships between equivalent courses. A learner does not need to process several courses with similar content but passes one course and is automatically considered as passed by equivalence on the defined equivalent courses.

The LMS offers the functionality to easily import references to learning content of third-party content providers. The content is imported as media of type “3rd-Party Content“, which can be added to courses or catalogues in the ILS. The learning status of content processed at the side of the content provider can be transferred back to the LMS via xAPI or scheduled job, depending on the capabilities of the content provider.

  • Licence activation

  • Configuration of the connector based on the API credentials provided by the customer

  • Setup of learning status transfer from third party provider to ILS (xAPI or scheduled job)

The LMS supports more than 40 platform (interface) languages (for some only the learner view is translated).

  • Introduction session (up to 1 hour web session) to modify the client specific language configuration

An initial roll out of multiple language is efficient and reduces the effort. After the initial roll out every additional language requires extra effort.
