Hosting Architectures
This article provides an overview about the available hosting architectures.
Shared Kubernetes
The Kubernetes Cloud (K8s-Cloud) is a shared cloud platform that uses a common Kubernetes cluster but keeps the application servers separate. The K8s systems rely on Docker images based on the microservice architecture of the LMS (details can be found in the Technical Whitepaper of the Learning Suite). Each customer runs their own separate database instance within a shared database pool. Content storage is also allocated individually for each customer.
Shared Cloud setups are currently only supported in the following regions / hosting partners:
Azure
North Europe (Ireland, Dublin)
UK South (London)
Southeast Asia (Singapore)
Australia Southeast (Melbourne)
Switzerland North (Zurich)
US West (California)
For Ionos, imc offers shared K8s cluster environments with dedicated LMS codelines.
Dedicated Kubernetes
The dedicated Kubernetes (K8s) environment is a cloud platform that operates on an exclusive Kubernetes cluster. K8s systems utilize Docker images based on the LMS microservice architecture (details available in the Technical Whitepaper of the Learning Suite). Each customer has a dedicated Azure SQL database and server for their database instance. Additionally, content storage is provisioned in separate, dedicated storage accounts.
Dedicated K8s environments are available in any Azure or AWS region.
Validatable Cloud
The Validatable Cloud is a K8s cloud service designed for customers in the pharmaceutical industry. Its architecture aligns with the Shared Kubernetes Cloud, with the key distinction that all systems are based on a Golden Master for configuration, environment, and services. The Golden Master has been installed, tested, and validated according to GAMP 5 guidelines.
As a result, Validatable Cloud customers have access to the necessary documentation for system validation, including IQ, OQ, and PQ, as well as a functional reference with an associated risk analysis.
Remark: These documents are based on the installation, version, and configuration of the Golden Master, from which all subsequent instances are derived. Therefore, to maintain the validity of these documents, any changes to configuration, software or services require the creation of a new Golden Master (including its documentation).
The Validatable Cloud is currently only available in the location of the Golden Master, which is North Europe (Dublin, Ireland) within Microsoft Azure.
