The LMS allows you to define the Learning Area settings to control how learners view the Learning status function. Settings control the tab names, displayed objects by learning mode, and the available options such as download icons. This configuration can be performed either system-wide or client-specific. The configuration access points and options will be shown below.
System-wide Configuration
The system-wide configuration is performed via Configuration function Learning area settings menu. Changes made here apply to all users for whom their master-client contains no client-specific settings. The following screenshot shows the system-wide configuration:
Client-specific Configuration
The client-specific configuration is performed via the Clients function. Highlight a client, click the Settings icon and select the Learning area settings option.
You can activate Client-specific settings by ticking the Use client settings for learning area checkbox. This is the only setting that differs from System-wide configuration.
Configuration Settings
The system-wide and client-specific configuration areas share the same tabs and settings. Each tab and key settings are described below:
Description Tab
There are many settings here that control default display options and interactions available for the learner. Important settings include:
-
Show search bar
-
Number of results displayed
-
Show certificates download
-
Show export option
-
Enable manual sorting in the learning status
-
Manual sort options in the learning status
-
Preset sorting
Filter Tab
Here you can define which filters will be visible to the learner. The filter order and whether each filter is displayed expanded or collapsed can also be defined.
Tab configuration Tab
The Tab configuration tab is the most advanced in terms of configuration. Here you can define the tabs in terms of name per platform language, the order, which learning objects will be displayed per tab, and the display status.
When creating or editing a tab, a new screen will load with two tabs. In the Learning area tab you can define the name of the tab in each activated platform language. In the Settings tab you can select which objects will be included by Planning status and Enrolment status; additionally objects can be excluded based on Learning mode.
